Cancellation and Refund Policy

This policy governs the cancellation and refund terms for race registrations, training and event services offered by Marmaris Uluslararası Yat Spor Kulübü İktisadi İşletmesi ("MIYC") through miyc.org.
1. Race Registration Fees
Race registration fees are refunded as follows:
- Cancellations made 30 days or more before the first official day of the race: full refund.
- Cancellations made 15–29 days before the first official day of the race: 50% refund.
- Cancellations made 14 days or less before the start of the race: no refund.
No refund is made if the participant fails to attend ("No Show"), or is unable to race due to technical failure of the boat, lack of crew, or personal reasons.
2. Social Events and Training
- Cancellations made up to 14 days before the event date: full refund.
- Cancellations made 7–13 days before: 50% refund.
- Cancellations made less than 7 days before: no refund.
3. Postponement or Cancellation of an Organisation
If an organisation is postponed due to adverse weather, decisions of official authorities, safety concerns, natural disasters or force majeure, registrations are automatically transferred to the new date.
If an organisation is cancelled entirely, MIYC may apply one of the following:
- full refund of the participation fee,
- issuance of a credit to be used at a subsequent organisation,
- transfer of the registration to another event, with the participant's consent.
If MIYC cancels the organisation and the participant does not accept the credit or transfer option, the full amount paid is refunded.
4. Force Majeure
MIYC bears no direct liability in the event of earthquake, fire, war, epidemic, port closure, navigation bans, decisions of official authorities or similar events beyond its control.
In such cases, the decisions of the Board of Directors apply.
5. Refund Process
Refund requests are considered in writing only. Duplicate payments made in error, or amounts collected in excess, are refunded following verification without a separate request. Applications must be sent to miyc@miyc.org.
The application must include: full name, payment reference number (MIYC-YYYY-NNNN), name of the race or event, and the reason for cancellation.
Approved refunds are issued within 10 business days at the latest, using the same method as the original payment. Card payments are refunded only to the same card; no refund is made in cash or to a different account.
The time required for the refund to appear on your card statement depends on your bank. MIYC is not responsible for delays arising from banks' processing times.
6. Right of Withdrawal
Under Turkish Consumer Protection Law No. 6502 and the Distance Contracts Regulation, consumers generally have a 14-day right of withdrawal.
However, the race, event and date-specific training services offered by MIYC fall within Article 15, first paragraph, subparagraph (g) of the Distance Contracts Regulation, as services "relating to the use of leisure time for entertainment or recreation purposes that must be performed on a specific date or period". Accordingly, the right of withdrawal does not apply to these services.
Where the right of withdrawal does not apply, the tiered cancellation and refund terms set out in Sections 1 and 2 above apply. These terms may not be interpreted so as to be more restrictive than the rights granted by law.
7. Payment Security
Online payments are processed through the virtual POS infrastructure of Yapı ve Kredi Bankası A.Ş., using SSL encryption and 3D Secure authentication in line with international security standards.
Your card details are entered only on the bank's secure payment page; MIYC neither sees nor stores credit card information in its own systems.
8. Dispute Resolution
For disputes arising from this policy, Consumer Arbitration Committees at the consumer's place of residence have jurisdiction within the monetary limits determined annually by the Ministry of Trade, and Consumer Courts for disputes above those limits.
9. Authority
Final authority over the application and interpretation of this policy rests with the Board of Directors of Marmaris Uluslararası Yat Spor Kulübü İktisadi İşletmesi. This authority does not remove or restrict the consumer's statutory rights.
